The "Wichita NAACP Blog" participates in the New Organizing Institute's Blogger Summit

I've spent the past weekend in Washington DC as a participant in a Blogger Summit organized by the New Organizing Institute, and the Center for American Progress. Political and Issue oriented bloggers from around the country were invited to attend the 3 day workshop and training session.

The Summit was very informative and well put together (Thanks Lola and Judith)

Sessions included: Building a State/Issue Blog, Building Coalitions and Moving an Agenda, Blogging as a Business, Empowering Readers, FOIA Requests and Election Complaints, Research Tools and Other Resources, Citizen Journalism, Podcasting and Blog Radio, Bridging the Blogosphere Divides, Blogging Platforms, Holding the Media Accountable, Media Training, Iraq Policy Briefings, Healthcare, Working w/Campaigns, the Economy, and Energy policy.

While at the summit I also had an opportunity to meet some of the voices from the Afrospear as well. It was good to finally meet and speak with some of the voices from my blogroll such as Faye Anderson of Anderson at Large, Pam Spaulding of Pam's House Blend, Ms. Lola from Whatever Lola wants (Don't listen to Rock and Field Lola, your car was fly... at least it will be when you get a new headlight, some new wiper blades, a new side mirror, replace that broken window and sweep the glass out of the back seat :-) ) and brothers like LN Rock of the African American Political Pundit (we have had some serious email debates about the NAACP), Wayne Bennett aka The Field Negro,(who is a strong African American Attorney handling criminal cases in the Philadelphia area - If any branches are in need of an attorney in PA let me know and I'll get you his contact information) Brandon White from The Super Spade, Baratunde Thurston from Jack and Jill Politics, and Gabriel Rey-Goodlatte from Color of Change.

I learned a lot during the summit and you may see some of those change reflected in this blog and they will certainly be on display in my new soon to be released blog which is currently under construction...

It was truly a joy to meet you. There is no doubt that the local branch of the NAACP is in great hands. It was wonderful to learn about that great things you are doing within the NAACP chapter, and the respect you have for the great people of Wichita. Keep up the great work.

Best wishes,

LNRock
